On June 2, students at the Cudahy High School were inducted into the Tri-M Music Honors Society. The Tri-M Music Honor Society, once named the "Modern Music Masters," is the international honor society for music students in senior high school. It is a program of the Music Educators National Conference, and association of nearly 70,000 music education professionals nationwide who realize the importance of motivating students and recognizing music achievements.
The
Cudahy chapter serves the school and community by helping soloists and
ensembles perform at school events, giving solo and ensemble
performances at local community organizations, and providing ushers and
assistance for local music events. Every winter the society goes
"Caroling for Cans" to collect food for Project Concern.
To be inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society, students must meet GPA
requirements, show leadership inside and outside of school, be
accomplished and dedicated to making music, and have the recommendation
of their music teacher.
This year this organization inducted: Alexandra Coyhis, Maggie Duris, Rebecca Haak, Cassie Keith, Jessica Krueger, Brian Marsolek, Gillian Miner, Samantha Polfer, Derek Puczylowski, Rebecca Shuler, Nicholas Thein, and Teddy Wolter
Six scholarships were also given out. Five seniors received $100 scholarships each: Kristin Kasper, Joe Caruso, Danielle Dounar, Ethan Wilke, and Audrey Lewis. One senior received a $500 scholarship: Nate Tratnik

The students have been working extremely hard with their music teachers to prepare for this event. Each student has prepared a short piece that demonstrates technical and musical skills which have been taught in school. The students will play in front of an adjudicator and receive a rating based on his or her performance. That date is approaching fast so please mark your calendar. When: Saturday, March 14th Time: 8:00 A.M. – 12:00 A.M. Where: Cudahy Middle School

On Monday, February 9, Cudahy High School participated in the Marquette Band Festival. This event provided an opportunity for the concert band to perform in front of clinicians and get feedback about their performance.
At this time of the year, the Cudahy band focuses on band festivals and solo and ensemble festivals. These activities give students a chance to prepare music and get wonderful feedback and coaching from music professionals outside of the regular school setting.

Congratulations to the Jazz Ensemble on their 5th place honors at the U-W LaCrosse Jazz Festival.
On Saturday, January 24th, the Jazz Ensemble performed in class A competition (based on school size) in a field of 11 bands from around the state and also participated in clinics and attended concerts. In addition to their respectable placement, Joe Caruso and JJ Ligocki earned special recognition for their level of musicianship.
The Jazz Ensemble travels to festivals every winter and has also participated in the UW-Stevens Point, UW-Green Bay and Bob Kames Jazz Festivals. This year the Ensemble will compete again at the Bob Kames festival in South Milwaukee. The Big Phat Band is the featured ensemble at the festival this year and we are very excited to have the chance to rub shoulders with members of this top professional jazz ensemble.

The marching band traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 25 to compete in the Youth in Music Regional Championships at the Metrodome.
This unique competition gave the students a chance to compete with bands from outside Wisconsin. The students experienced exhibition performances by the University of Minnesota Marching Band, UW-Eau-Claire Marching Band, the Minnesota Opera, Minne-Brass, and the U.S. Army Rock Band. The Minnesota trip was the final performance this season for the Cudahy High School students.
The students, directors, and community can be proud of the band's great season and many wonderful experiences this year.

On January 31, a musical quartet from the United States Air Force will perform music for the students at the Cudahy High School. After the performance, the quartet plans to share their expertise with the students in a workshop.
This group is a saxophone quartet with percussion and they are an outreach group from the Air Force. The group travels the midwest to promote music and the excellence and discipline of the USAF.
Through performances like this, the quartet promotes cultural outreach and the students receive an amazing experience.
