Homecoming week for the Cudahy High School runs from September 21 and end with a dance on September 26. This year's theme at the high school is Welcome to the Jungle. For this week, Student Council has established themes for each school day.
Monday - Clash Day
Tuesday - Blast from the Past - dress for a specific time period.
Wednesday - Theme Day - Welcome to the Jungle
Thursday
- Color Day with freshman dressing in orange, sophomores in red,
juniors in blue, and seniors in black.
Friday - School Pride - Students and faculty wear school apparel. There will be a pep assembly on Friday September 25th during the last part of the day. At 6 p.m., the homecoming parade will begin!

Come watch and cheer on our students in the 2009 Cudahy High School Homecoming Parade. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and runs down Lake Drive to Munkwitz Ave. to the football field.
 
What: Homecoming Parade When: Friday, September 25 starting at 6 pm Where: Runs down Lake Dr. in front of City Hall, north to Munkwitz Ave., and west to the football field.
The Homecoming game is to follow at 7 p.m.

Park View Elementary just received the New Wisconsin Promise School of Recognition award for the 7th year in a row!
To be recognized as a School of Promise, student achievement on statewide reading and mathematics assessments must outperform the state average for similar schools. Congratulations to all students and staff at Park View! The award will be presented next month at a ceremony at the State Capitol.

The daily schedule for Cudahy High School has changed this school year. Last year, the Leadership Team examined the past schedule and found teachers and staff needed more time to collaborate and examine student progress. The new schedule is as follows. Cudahy Middle School recently selected the cast for their upcoming musical Nottingham. Eighth graders Heaven Harms, Dana Papala, Jorga Lika, and Cameron Vugrinovich are preparing for their roles along with a cast of 43 Cudahy Middle School students.
The date for the Nottingham musical is scheduled for November 12.

On Wednesday, September 23, Cudahy High School will host the presentation Making it Count for incoming freshman. The Making High School Count presentation tells first-semester high school freshmen how to recognize their potential for future success and how to make the most of their high school experience. In this presentation, students learn that the choices they make as early as freshman year can impact their opportunities upon graduation.
Students also will learn tips for a successful transition into high school. They will understand the importance of grades to achieve current and future goals. They will learn test-taking skills and strategies, which enable them to get better grades. They will develop important skills through active involvement in extracurricular activities. And they will learn study skills to make their study time more effective.

On September 3, the Kosciuszko PTA held a Back to School Picnic for the parents and children attending the school. At this picnic, families enjoyed great food with the teachers, staff, and other families in the school.
 This event was a lot of fun and a huge success!

On Wednesday, September 9, parents of Cudahy High School students can experience their child's schedule by attending 10-minute mini-classes. During these sessions, teachers explain course goals and parents can ask questions and see a shortened version of their child's day.

The Cudahy Varsity Pon Pom Team recently returned from the Badgerette Midwest Invitational in Chicago and earned an invitation to the premiere event during their camp session in July. The team competed in three events and placed 2nd overall in Division A. Over 30 teams and 500 participants were at the event. The Cudahy High School team has qualified for the Midwest Invitational for the past 15 years.

This camp is designed to assist individuals who are physically and cognitively challenged, to play basketball, regardless of limitations. Activities will be geared toward the camper’s abilities, in a fun and inviting atmosphere. Campers will use the buddy system—a parent, sibling or friend.

Deadline to Register - September 9
This season, we have organized these leagues a little differently. Join the Cudahy Girls Varsity Basketball Coach, Mr. Nikolic, and members of the Varsity Team, as they work with you to improve your skills and game, to get a head start on your season.
Topics covered will include: pressure defense, full court pressure, fast break basketball and many more!
Each Saturday will consist of instruction, practice, and games played amongst the teams formed. We may play some games against another school district, if so, it will be listed on the schedule to be distributed. Prizes will be awarded to teams and for individual performance.

Practices will start in early September, as soon as everyone gets registered. They will be held after school for about 1 hr 15 min, twice each week, as follows:

This is an excellent program introducing youth to the game of soccer. YMCA Staff will lead practice sessions designed to help youth develop dribbling, passing and scoring skills through modified game activities. We emphasize respect, team work and the rules of the game, with the main emphasis on having fun. Due to inclement weather, practices or games may be cancelled. Participants will practice once a week at their respective schools, and games will be played on Saturday mornings at the South Shore YMCA.
Cost $30, includes a shirt and award.
Schedule: Practice starts the week of September 8th. First game on Saturday, September 19th at the YMCA.
Practice Locations: General Mitchell, J.E. Jones, Kosciuszko, Lincoln and Parkview

Tiny Tigers (Ages 5-7)
This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. Self-control and self-esteem are emphasized to help the students to develop a healthy view of themselves. In addition, the program is designed to improve children’s motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions.
All classes are taught using the most safe, fun, and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. The testing process is slightly different from the youth and adult programs, as these students move at “half-steps”.
There is a $25 fee collected by the instructor upon promotion in belt ranking. The classes are shorter to allow for more information retention, but are just as much fun and exciting as the youth and adult programs.
5:00 pm—5:30 pm beginners white belts and white belts blue starts
5:30 pm—6:00 pm advanced all other colored belts

Cudahy Taekwondo Club (Ages 8-14)
Students will learn discipline and respect, team building, Korean terminology, vital self-defense techniques and Songham style taekwondo, to be used only if necessary, with the understanding that the best way to avoid confrontation is not to be there.
Students will be promoted in rank upon testing successfully in front of the instructor at the end of the session.
There is a $50 fee collected by the instructor upon promotion in belt ranking. There are nine colored belts indicating the level of achievement: (lowest to highest) white, orange, yellow, camouflage, green, purple, blue, brown, red, black.
A typical class will contain all or some of the following: warm ups and stretching, teaching of Songham style taekwondo, drills, demonstrations, forms, cardio workouts, sparring, one-steps, and self-defense techniques.
6:00 pm—7:00 pm beginners white, orange, yellow belts
7:00 pm—8:00 pm advanced all other colored belts
$30 Res. / $60 Non-Res. for Session 1 or 2

Come learn the popular and fun sport of bowling and improve your game! AMF South Park Lanes teaches youth a game they can enjoy for life! Everyone will be coached on the lanes, while bowling 2 games, having fun and making new friends!
Beginner A coach will teach you, on the lanes, how to choose the correct ball, grip, the proper starting position, set up and beginning the approach, how to swing the ball and the proper release.
Intermediate For those who have attended the previous camp, we will continue to work on improving your skills! First, by reviewing your beginners techniques, then by adding the 4-step approach, spare shooting and scoring

From July 27 to July 30, the Cudahy Varsity Cheerleaders attended a UCA Summer Camp at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. There were 14 teams and over 300 girls. The girls had a great week of team bonding and fun.

The numerous Cudahy awards were:
