The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Flamethrower

Here is a comment someone said to me after the State of the City address.

“Randy, you have stated that you do not hate the Mayor, does that mean you dislike him?  Why use a flamethrower when a candle will do and what will it take to make peace with the Mayor?  Your flame-throwing style may have a flaw.  You can catch more bees with honey then vinegar.”

As I told the person – “First I don’t dislike the Mayor, it is just I don’t agree with a few of his polices and direction.  My blog is open to everyone and the Mayor and all of the city personnel can comment right on it!”

Of course that would be great because like I said before, “Once you write it, and sign it, you can’t hide from it.”  It is not like a phone call that can be disputed.  Maybe I should start taping my calls?  Maybe we should all do that?

I like the flamethrower comment – I guess I do make my comments forceful.  Why? Because I tried the route of being nice and a pacifist; it doesn’t work.  I will now refer to my comments as the flame-throwing style.  I am not going to make any more calls, stop-ins, or emails.  I will now do it all in the public eye in front of you.

What will it take to make peace – at the moment, getting the sidewalk on Whitnall Ave in which I am told, may be in the works), getting the Wal-Mart in, and open communication in the written format, which should include public documents, info and stats on the web.

I am sure I will have more issues with our leader in the future, but if you want to make me happy now, that would do!  All of those items are for the betterment of Cudahy.

I am not on an ego trip nor am I campaigning to run for office (Sorry to those who have thought I would run and be a good Mayor).  I just want Cudahy to be better, I am not trying to put a feather in my cap nor am I peacocking.  Am I ruffling feathers?  YES!

I do reserve the right to change my mind in the future on running for office.  Right now, I can do more from the outside looking in.

Randy, there's a lot of people in Cudahy who back you up, even if they are too scared to admit it. We should all be thankful that someone is willing to take a stand for what is right for our city; like you said, "...just want Cudahy to be better", too bad there are egos that get in the way of the good the city could do. There isn't any reason to be shameful of an opinion, that's what makes us human (not robots) and why our country is a great one!

Sometimes you may feel your comments fall of deaf ears, but the truth is that people ARE reading and they ARE listening. We rally behind you and hopefully, you are stronger in your plight for a better Cudahy because of it. You are a voice that matters! You are looking out for the betterment of Cudahy! You are taking a stand, unafraid of whose feathers you ruffle! Those of us who stand behind will continue to support you, even if the “powers that be” wish we weren’t listening!

Keep up the good work…your supporters need your voice!

You certainly seem more of a spend and tax liberal than a self stated arch conservative. You believe that Wal Mart is good for the city. Many people agree with you and even I do not have a problem with a Full sized Wal Mart Supercenter in the right location. The big difference is that you are quite willing for Cudahy to spend $22 million of tax money if that what it takes to get Wal Mart into the city. I say firstly that not one cent of Cudahy tax money should be spent for a scaled down Wal Mart. Why should Cudahy settle for a store that is smaller than what Wal Mart offers every other community? Cudahy is not a second class city and I am insulted that someone wihes to be treated that way.

Secondly, I would be very willing to encourage Cudahy to invest around $7 million of tax dollars to bring a full sized Supercenter Wal Mart and clean up the City of Cudahy dump at the sime time. Because, these tax dollars would not be going to bail out the private failed Iceport developer. This tax moeny would be used to add another 1% of total taxable land to the city's tax roll.

The idea that either the Wal Mart goes on the Cudahy Station site or Wal Mart will never come to Cudahy, is a story being spread by Mr, Kasten's handpicked developer. He would have been crazy, not to temporary tie up Wal Mart. However, why would a multi billion dollar company tie any developement in Southeastern Milwaukee County for a long length of time with just one developer?  I am quite sure, that just as Wal Mart has looked at a number of different sites in the area in the past, they are continuing to watch the market.

So Joe if Wal-Mart made the store 250,000 on Cudahy Station then you won’t have any more beef.  I think not!

Even Ronald Reagan knew that you have to spend money.

I just think the money spent for the Wave is a good area to spend it on.

The Wave's facility will be unique to the metropolitan area and will bring large numbers of soccer parents to the facility for their children's games, practices, etc.  It is certainly predictable that these people will be shopping in Cudahy before and after games and during practices.  And there is ample local and national evidence of soccer's growing popularity here and throughout the country.  $$$$$$$$

Some people at the Plan Commission meeting were upset with the TIF being used for the Wave.  These people fail to recognize that an investment in a sports center creates jobs and generates tax monies.  The tax monies come not only from the employment of local people, but also from the salaries of out of town athletes that train & those who will use the convention center.  The also fail to see the investment for Cudahy Students that can use the facility during school for FREE.  The quality of life that having the Wave Center brings to the Cudahy area far exceeds the more traditional job creation and other tax revenue areas.  $$$$$$$$$$

Many of the Wave’s office people will have their offices at the center.  $$$$$$

The academy would feature 60,000 square feet of training space for both indoor soccer and futsal (five-on-five game) and will serve the estimated 100,000 soccer players who live within 100 miles of Cudahy.  $$$$$$$$

The facility could provide training for 250 to 500 players a day, with the center led by Wave coach Keith Tozer, who would serve as academy director, and the Wave's all-time leading scorer Michael King, who would manage the training programs.  The center would provide professional quality training to children and adults in the same way the Wave trains.  If approved, the training academy is expected to be completed by 2009.

Liberals ideas of investments are to pour more good money after bad into a sinkhole or $ocial programs.

The benefit to those who live in town and to those who will be coming in (with copious disposable income) to shop, eat or take advantage of the Wave's programs is likely to be more positive than some seem to think.

If Cudahy wants to move forward, let it start here…let it start now.

“Wal-Mart itself is not asking for tax [TIF] subsidy.”  I just think it needs to be said again.  Taxpayers are not paying for Wal-Mart.

Joe it is, Ultraconservative not arch conservative.

Ultraconservative - Conservative to an extreme, especially in political beliefs; reactionary.

Conservatives

• A strong national defense

• Return of prayer in school

• The Second Amendment Right to Keep and Bear Arms

• Economic allocative efficiency (as opposed to popular equity)

• Stronger law enforcement and anti-crime laws, including the death penalty

• Parents, rather than school teachers, educating children about sex

• Choice in education

• Private medical care and retirement plans

• Weakening or cancellation of failed social support programs

• Prohibition of abortion

• Opposition to same-sex marriage licenses

• Support of laws against pornography

• Generally opposed to the United Nations

• Support enforcement of current laws regarding immigration

• Support tightening of border security

• Respect for our military ... past and present

• Low taxes

• Opening foreign markets to U.S. products

I think if you have been reading ALL of my blogs then you know it to be true.  Cudahy’s tax problem is not because of the TIFs, it is because of mismanagement.  Low taxes, but you still must spend money that comes from taxes.  To me this is worth the money.  We are getting a value out of it.

Joe, where do you fit in as a political party ideals?

Joe – If you want for more airtime (since the public forum has a character limit) you can type up and email me your post and I will post it as a guest blog.

Just because we don’t see eye to eye with this, again doesn’t mean I don’t respect you!  You come very highly regarded by people I know and trust.
