Congratulations to the Cudahy Police Department for the win in the 8th annual Battle of the Badges. Congratulations to the Make-A-Wish foundation of Wisconsin.
In a friendly game of basketball between rivals at Cudahy High School, the game was very evenly matched. In the end, the Cudahy Police basketball squad won 69 to 63.
The most important aspect of the game was the money raised for the Make-A-Wish foundation of Wisconsin.
Cudahy’s K-9, Ezzo, along with Officer and Handler Brian Olson were in attendance.
Cudahy Fourth District Alderperson Jason Litkowiec was there along with Cudahy Police Chief Thomas D Poellot and South Milwaukee’s Police Chief Ann Wellens.
I did not see Cudahy Mayor McCue in attendance.
Cudahy’s Sgt Chris Blunt's family won the prize of a free sub each week from Cousins Subs. A big congratulations to the Blunt family.
Cousins Subs was the sponsor and had concessions on hand at the game. Even the Cousins Subs mascot was there for support and pictures.
The rematch game will be held on May 2nd, the Cudahy Police and Fire Departments will square off at 5pm in their annual battle. Members of the Cudahy School District faculty will play at 3pm on May 2nd. The proceeds for the May 2nd games will benefit Dennis LeDoux, a Cudahy Firefighter who was forced to retire following a duty incurred injury and who is still struggling from his injury.
Since 2002, Battle of the Badges has raised $20,187 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This was an email I received from CPD Sgt Chris Blunt
This e-mail is to inform the good residents of our community that the Cudahy Police Department made 2 arrests following the shooting incident at the K-Ranch. Members of the Cudahy Tactical Unit executed a search warrant at a Cudahy residence on Wednesday and also arrested one of the suspects shortly thereafter, without incident.
My understanding is this case will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office on Friday, March 13th. I would anticipate additional press release/possible media coverage once the 2 suspects have been formally charged.
Respectfully,
Sgt Blunt

During the summer of 2008, Cudahy Police had to respond to a flag vandalism happening where an American Flag was burned and the people cited for careless use of burning materials.
Do you think we need a flag-burning ordinance in Cudahy?

I would like to pass on this information from Cudahy Police Sgt Chris Blunt
A disabled woman was the victim of a strong-arm Robbery on 1/2/09 at about 9:30am in the 3500 block of E. Layton Ave. A suspect pushed her down from behind and took her coin purse, which held about $1,000.
The suspect is described as a large black male, looking like "Fat Albert", 1st seen wearing a baby blue puffy jacket and baggy blue jeans with a label on one of the legs that appeared to be red Chinese lettering. The suspect also had a scar on one of his eyebrows. The suspect fled eastbound in the north alley of the 3500 block of Layton Ave. The victim thought she heard someone yell "Come on, Joe, lets go", but did not see anyone else in the area. It should be noted this incident was first reported to the Cudahy Police Department on 1/11/09.

Today is my one-year anniversary blogging here. WOW one year!
Story headlines provided by Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel or CudahyNow
Heroin overdoses, rash of garage burglaries, woman suspects she was drugged at bar, Plankinton Inn robbed at gunpoint, Citgo clerk victim of armed robbery, Woman wakes up as burglar leaves her home
Those are some of the headlines facing Cudahy. True headlines! Do you think Cudahy has a crime problem! The answer is YES, unless you put your head in the sand!
Here is what some recently suggested to me:
“Randy,
I don't like the city shown in a negative light in the newspaper, radio and the Internet. If it was going to change the outcome, I would feel different. Since it's the holiday season, I would like to see something more positive on the CudahyNOW website. Just a suggestion.”
And I understand where that person was going from! Honestly I do. It is just too bad the criminals and some city officials don’t.
Here is what someone else said to me:
“Randy,
It appears that the drug problem is running wild here in town, and bringing an officer back from HIDTA to Cudahy, and adding another officer, has not been the save all, as it was promised.
Talking to a couple of young people here in town over the last week, they are equating Cudahy to a Ghetto. That is really sad, but unfortunately, as they said, the drugs are free and flowing.”
What is HIDTA you might have asked yourself - The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program enhances and coordinates drug control efforts among local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies. The program provides agencies with coordination, equipment, technology, and additional resources to combat drug trafficking and its harmful consequences in critical regions of the United States http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/HIDTA/
Now I have said this before, the police cannot do this alone! They need our help! Are they perfect, NO, but they are doing what they can! That is why we need to help out when we see something and call the police and we must give them the tools they need.
Again, we must support our police department and have faith in that part of the city. Just look at what was just recently done.
The Cudahy Police Department Tactical Unit served two successful drug search warrants recently, resulting in multiple arrests.
As these investigations are ongoing, no additional information could be released. I was told that they characterized these incidents as significant.
I was recently asked if the gang ordinance in Cudahy had been used and it has. Could and should it be used more often? I would say, YES if it was up to me. But that would truly be up to the Cudahy Police to decide. I am glad it is on the books incase it is needed. Give the police as much tools as you can to make the city and us safe.
Maybe if the media keeps knocking Cudahy around, we will see change. The fight of crime should be an excellent motivator for whoever runs for Cudahy Mayor in 2010.
Much of the bad Wal-Mart headlines Cudahy brought on to itself. It was common sense and the right thing to do and pass it, but low and behold, we would not want to do the right thing and common sense thing. NOT in Cudahy!
Again, it might be a wake up call that Wagner, Sykes, Weber, and even Belling, are blasting McCue and Cudahy. Unfortunately, from people I run into, Cudahy, once again is a laughing stock. Add in that Cudahy is getting to look like a ghetto and we do have a problem.
Corrective action needs to be done, NOW!
We need to move away from the city leaders who do noting besides pad their resumes.
People from the outside looking in see that Cudahy is not moving in the positive right direction and now it is time for those looking in and out to move us in that way. The right way!
Why cannot Cudahy have headlines like this?
Mequon makes money, Oak Creek booming, census study says
http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/36210204.html
Jay Weber
Oak Creek is booming, Cudahy is NOT.
PodCast Click Here
Cudahy is in a battle and we need a strong Mayor, I am just not seeing that from Mayor McCue. Do you? Really, ask yourself what has he done that was a positive thing?
What we do see from Mayor McCue is silence. Lots of silence that we can take to the bank.
Cudahy needs a Mayor who is seen and heard. Right now, we don’t have that!
Where is the news conferences that we are going to take back the city from this crime wave? What are the corrective actions being taken?
Where was the Mayor condoning the behavior of people vandalizing the people involved in a possible recall of him? I pleaded for him to come out and denounce those actions, but he was silent.
Where is the Mayor’s meet the Mayor meetings to inform the public what is going on in the city? Since I just mentioned it, wait it will happen shortly now!
While the recall may have fizzled, mostly because the people who would like to become Mayor next didn’t come forward. Because what good does a recall do if the people are too afraid to run?
I just wish headlines would not be stories about illegal drugs in Cudahy and that at least four confirmed fatal drug overdoses in Cudahy, but those are the facts!
Wait, looks like you can add to that - Another heroin overdose death suspected here
We have to stop wishing things would get better and actually do something about it!
It would be nice to live in a city that you feel safe in, is growing and moving in the right direction. That just isn’t happening in Cudahy with Mayor McCue. 2009 is upon us and let us hope that those that would like to run for Cudahy’s Mayor are formulating ideas and strategies for running in 2010. We cannot afford another McCue term.
It is not just “I” that thinks Mayor McCue is not doing enough for the city take a look at the public forum below and do a search on Mayor. Very interesting comments.
What should be done with The Thirsty Moose tavern?
http://www.cudahynow.com/global_includes/forums/forum_cu_moose_tavern.asp
So what does the next Cudahy Mayor have to bring to the table?
Must be concerned about the crime in Cudahy and actually do something about it! Talk is cheap, but actions speak volumes.
Must be really Pro-Business! Not the talk, but the walk. They need to actually show that Cudahy IS business friendly, not just campaign on it, but follow through!
Condos are not everything (Condo sales at a trickle due to stagnant market)
http://www.cudahynow.com/story/index.aspx?id=638608
They need to be more open to the press with transparency as the real outcome not just talk about I will have an open door policy and lines of communications will be open. They must keep the lines of communication to the public open. John Q. Public always needs to know! The need to spend every penny in a budget, some even capriciously, so that an equal or greater amount will be allocated next year has to stop!
Accountability of the time and coming and goings - I was told that Mayor Hohenfeldt would send memos to everyone at City Hall that he would not be in the office.
So what whispers of names are blowing in the wind that might be considering a run for Cudahy Mayor you might be asking!
Here are a few rumors or wild speculation on my part of names surfacing that I have heard about.
Whose names are people talking about for a run at Mayor in 2010?
Jack Vaccaro, Robert Goss, Sara Eberhardy, Lee Barczak (now that he lives in Cudahy), some would like Joe Henika or Alderman Joe Mikolajczak from district one and maybe ex Mayor John Hohenfeldt.
One rumor being tossed my way was that McCue would not run in 2010, but put his support behind Lee Barczak in hopes if Mr. Barczak won he could in turn make McCue the City Administrator.
Maybe Cudahy could be this lucky - Almost half of council may seek mayor's post http://www.newberlinnow.com/story/index.aspx?id=825474
Do we have a crime problem in Cudahy? You would have to be a fool not to think so!
Just look at the report of activities investigated by CPD Officers this past week:
This data is provided by the Cudahy Blockwatch Activity Weekly Report
1 – Death Investigation
7 – Burglary
2 – Damage to Property
3 – Entry into Locked Vehicle
3 – Arrest Warrant (DOC, SMPD, MCSO)
3 – Domestic Violence (cleared)

1 – Violation of Domestic Abuse Injunction (cleared)
3 – Theft (one case cleared)

1 – Missing Juvenile (located)
1 – Death Investigation – Drug Overdose
1 – Search Warrant – 3600 block of E. Squire Ave

Just as every city does, but we only truly care what our city does. Let us work together and lower the crime! Let us get pride in Cudahy and take back the streets! If we have city people who don’t see the light, make them or replace them.

Please don’t forget to look at “The December poster for Milwaukee's 10 Most Wanted” post, but this information from Sgt Blunt of the Cudahy Police Department was too important not to post right away.
As some of you may know, Cudahy has been experiencing a rash of garage burglaries during the past 10 days to 2-week period, many on the north side and within the Blockwatch area of Cudahy.
The latest incident occurred at 3700 block of E. Bottsford Ave, where an unknown actor forcibly entered a locked garage and stole a snowblower and tire rims overnight.
Although no method is entirely foolproof, I believe you can greatly minimize your risk of being a victim if you consider the following:
Lock all doors to vehicles and garages. We are still seeing way too many people leaving doors of all kinds unlocked.
In regard to vehicles, do not store valuables in the car, if at all possible.
If time and your wallet permits, consider a quality service door to your garage, preferably a steal door, with a dead bolt and no window. Also, motion detectors can be effective and potentially deter burglars.
Pay attention. Periodically check your locks/doors for damage or signs someone may have tried to get into your car or garage.
Report such incidents to the police.
Report suspicious activity.
MANY, MANY people observe people or vehicles they don't know or people loitering in areas around the neighborhood. Although this does not automatically mean a person is up to no good, you are helping the police department keep tabs on who is in the neighborhood.
We cannot effectively deal with crime WITHOUT community involvement. Simply put, if something just doesn't look right, error on the side of calling the police. You can remain anonymous.
I hate to say it, because it may be an inconvenience, but consider locking up items such as snowblowers, lawnmowers, bicycles, etc. WITHIN your garage. Burglars often times try many garages before choosing a particular one to steal from. They are usual looking for a quick steal; in and out.
Have a Happy New Year!

In my post titled: Cudahy Common Council Meeting Dec 2nd, 2008 (includes audio file) a reader reached out and posted the following comment:
“Randy, is there anything the citizens can do to still make the Wal-Mart happen? What about a protest outside city hall, and try to get as much news coverage as we can? WISN radio has been doing a good job, but I think more exposure is needed. I hate to see this just end like this. What can we do?”
While out and about the city having my daughter’s picture taken with Santa, a few people came up to me and asked me basically, “Yes what can be done?”
Which I replied to the people and the reader that reached out:
“It is the right of people to protest, but someone would have to come forward and lead and organize it! I will look into it.”
I also received an email about a possible City Hall protest:
“Good. If I can get off of work, I will be there, and I will drag my mother along. Thank you again.”
So I decided to email the Cudahy Police Chief Thomas D. Poellot and CC’d in the Mayor and Common Council members for information.
Here is what I said:
“Dear Police Chief Poellot,
It has been asked how can Cudahy citizens lawfully protest at City Hall. What would be the do’s and don’t of the protest? I would not want anyone to get arrested, but don’t want to squash the First Amendment right of free speech and the Right to Demonstrate and Protest.
I fully understand that the First Amendment prohibits restrictions based on the content of speech. However, this does not mean that the Constitution completely protects all types of free speech activity in every circumstance. Police and government officials are allowed to place certain non-discriminatory and narrowly drawn “time, place and manner” restrictions on the exercise of First Amendment rights.
I also just want to clarify that an organized group can gather and protest at City Hall.
I know that generally, all types of expression are constitutionally protected in traditional “public forums” such as public sidewalks and parks. Public streets can be used for marches subject to reasonable permit conditions. In addition, speech activity may be permitted at other public locations such as the plazas in front of government buildings, which the government has opened up to similar speech activities.
This is coming to light due to the Common Council and the Mayor’s decision not to allow the MOU for the Cudahy Station to be passed, thus closing the doors on Wal-Mart.
Some feel this is unjust and that the City, most notably the Common Council and the Mayor, are not listening and following the voice of the people, so the people must voice louder and be visible.
I am not coming to you with the intentions of leading or supporting a protest at this time, however, I am addressing these questions in order to provide the answers to many of the other City of Cudahy residents that will or have contacted me to investigate their rights.
Randy Hollenbeck”
The gracious response back from Police Chief Poellot is as fellows:
“I would be happy to sit down and talk to the protest organizer. We can talk about how many people the organizer expects and what accommodations can be made for that amount of people. I would like to keep traffic safely flowing on the street and make sure that access and egress at City Hall is not impeded. Due to the close proximity of the High School, another concern that I have is for students going to or coming from school. I wouldn’t want to have kids having to walk out into traffic to walk around people blocking the sidewalk.
As far as the do’s and don’ts of protesting, I’m sure that we’re on the same page. I don’t believe that these folks want to come here to break the law. No one wants intimidation or harassment of others, property damage, injury or other unlawful conduct.
I don’t know if anyone’s heart is set on City Hall as the location, but it’s always possible that an alternate location would work for the organizer.
Again, I would be happy to sit down and talk to the protest organizer.
Sincerely,
Thomas D. Poellot, Chief of Police
Cudahy Police Department

Phone: (414) 769-2260
Fax: (414) 769-2259
chiefpoellot@ci.cudahy.wi.us”
If someone were looking at organizing a protest at City Hall, I would post the information you wish to have out just email me the information @ rhollenbeck@gmail.com or post it in the comment section.
Just remember it is within your right to protest if you so choose to, just do it lawfully!
Time doesn’t change a man’s word, but you learn his sincerity of action during it!
Here was a suggestion I received on this subject:
“In case the party of whom you requested the info will not be of assistance, I offer the following. According to our constitution, we all have the right of "Peaceful Protest.”
This includes utilizing the sidewalk in front of city hall property to march back and forth in an orderly manner utilizing signage and verbal chants so long as they do not disturb the peace in volume.
You may not disrupt traffic either foot or vehicle, you may not block driveways or stop vehicles or pedestrians. If one is so inclined to utilize their constitutional rights to Peaceful Protest, it may be advisable to contact the media so as to gain full advantage of the situation and inform the citizenry of Cudahy in a manner as to maximize the effect of the protest.
One thing to remember is that the police department will probably monitor any protest march that takes place and it is advisable to stay within the letter of the law. I would also suggest that you check to see if there are any permits are now required for protest marches or "parades,” since the executive branch of the city government may have factored this into the equation already.
Good luck.”

Many Cudahy residents may remember the Germantown police dog Bosco. Officer Bosco (yes he is a police officer) came to Cudahy to do a demonstration this year.
Story here Crime and Drug Town Hall Meeting
This demonstration was instrumental in helping to get Cudahy’s police dog. We owe a great deal of gratitude to officer Bosco and his handler officer Jeff Schnell.
Donations are being asked for and can be sent to:
Germantown Police Department, P.O. Box 96, Germantown, WI 53022
I have included the full article below. My prayers and wishes go out to officer Bosco for a speedy recovery.
Donations needed for ill police dog
Germantown residents are being asked to help pay for canine police officer Bosco's medical expenses.
A procedure to remove a cell mass had to be stopped Dec. 2 when the 6-year-old dog's heart rate increased to a dangerous level after he was given anesthetic. Doctors had intended to study the mass after its removal to determine if it was cancerous.
Later in the week, doctors told officer Jeff Schnell that Bosco has anal fistula, which can be treated with medication without having to undergo surgery.
"On the whole, we are optimistic that Bosco will recover; however, we will have to monitor the mass and hope the medication works," Germantown Police Chief Peter Hoell said.
Bosco has incurred $1,300 in medical bills, and help is needed to pay for continued treatment. The cost could reach $4,000, Hoell estimated.
As of Monday afternoon, the department had received more than $3,300 in donations, the chief said.
"We are committed to doing everything we can to cure Bosco," Hoell said. "But we do need help, so we are asking for the public's support in offsetting Bosco's medical bills."
Contributions can be sent to Germantown Police Department, P.O. Box 96, Germantown, WI 53022
http://www.germantownnow.com/watch/?watch=15&date=12/8/2008&id=48791
On a related subject, Cudahy Police K-9 T-shirts are now available. There are 2 different types for adults and a shirt designed for small kids and youths. The cost is $15 for the adults and $12 for the youths. Thanks Sgt Blunt and Officer Olson for this information. I know I will be stopping by to purchase mine and support Ezzo.

First, I would like to personally thank the Cudahy Police Department (CPD) and all of its officers and staff.
This is a segment from a letter from Lieutenant David R. Aamodt in the Cudahy 2007 Annual Report from the Cudahy Police Department. I do think it sums up 2007 very well.
“2007 was a notably violent year in Cudahy. In March, two of our officers were forced to fatally shoot a 42-year-old rape suspect when the man charged at them with a knife as the officers tried to arrest him. On March 1st, the proprietor of the Plankinton Inn was shot four times during an attempted robbery. We saw our violent crime index increase 79 percent. Aggravated Assaults increased to 31 from 20 in 2006. 8 of these assaults were stabbings. We also investigated 151 Misdemeanor Assaults. Robberies were at an unprecedented high of 30 (28 reported for the UCR), up from 13 in 2006. We did not have a violent homicide in 2007; however, we did successfully investigate a “Len Bias” Reckless Homicide case. A 21-year-old woman died of a heroin overdose in early December. Four people that were involved in the distribution of the heroin that killed the woman were charged with Reckless Homicide or the federal equivalent.”
I would like to believe I live in a city that doesn’t have crime, but that just isn’t the case or reality. Crime statistics can some times be very misleading. When the CPD started to crack down more and make drugs or prostitution a priority, arrests for those categories would be higher. One area of crime that is of grave concern for me is strong armed robbery. With the ease of the Parkway also comes the ease of robbers, thieves, murderers, or thugs to conduct their evil ways and harm the public.
While I, as a small business owner sympathize with the cost of doing business and protecting the people and the company’s assets, many businesses should install or upgrade their camera systems. Having a good video camera system would make the apprehension of those responsible for the crime faster and easier. I would even push for the city to make an ordinance that states if a business has had a robbery or theft “x” amount of time that the business be required to put good video cameras in. They can contact Vince from Certified Security & Controls at 414-550-3102 for ideas or a quote on a system. Vince is a very decent and honest man who is a small business owner with experience with video systems that have been used with police investigations. I am sure there are many other good places as well.
Video cameras can only do so much. The city and its people have to help the situation by being involved and not afraid to report suspicious events, noises, or people.
Reading the report made me depressed, but it did give me hope as well. Juvenile problems did drop from last year. Parking (PK) Handicap and Fire Lane violations are being looked at. That has not happened the last four years. Now reading this you may say that is not hard crimes that matter, but tell that to the fire department when they are trying to get their rigs and equipment into a place when people’s lives are at stake.
The third district still leads the way with the most police phone calls. The third district has almost double the calls as the other districts. I do know that Alderman Mark Otto looks into that as I have talked to him personally about it.
What can the police do to improve this crime problem? First, we need to make sure we are giving them the tools they need and that they are using them. This K-9 unit will take a good bite out of the crime. We all need to help the police department with our involvement. Get involved with “The Neighborhood Block Watch Group”. Talk to your neighbors and look out for them. The city personnel needs to be involved and they are, some more than others.
I plan on doing a blog on the break down of the stats like I have done in the past.
It is hard to pull positives from the numbers, so I will pull some quotes and info from those who are included in the report.
Lieutenant David R. Aamodt –
“One of the highpoints of the year was a Drug Interdiction program directed by Sgt Chris Blunt. We worked cooperatively with the Milwaukee County Sheriff, Oak Creek, St. Francis and the Franklin Police Departments. These agencies provided K-9s and handlers. During six separate occasions officers made 118 traffic stops that resulted in 166 identified contacts, 62 traffic citations and 21 arrests (9 for Drugs). Some of the subjects of the stops were identified as street gang members. The presence of the K-9s and our officers photographing and documenting gang indicia sent a strong message to these gang members that Cudahy would be a bad place for them to do business in. Also, we received full reimbursement for the cost of this program from the Milwaukee HIDTA.”
Sergeant Randy Scheel –
“Overall, the City is in good hands with the veteran employees of Day Shift, who are hard working, dedicated professionals.”
Sergeant Christopher M. Blunt –
“January 2nd, 5:24 p.m.: Officer Tony Andrews responded to a boyfriend/girlfriend dispute at 5781 South Packard Avenue, where the male party suddenly barricaded himself with a knife within the apartment bathroom. The Cudahy Tactical Unit responded.”
(You may not have known Cudahy has a Tactical Unit)
“The Cudahy Police Department tactical unit has been formally established since 1999. The main purpose of a tactical unit is to have an organized and trained response to situations, which are potentially dangerous and life-threatening and to resolve those conflicts peacefully.
With the addition of a Crime Suppression Unit in 2008 as well as the overall crime trends in Cudahy, I anticipate the workload of the Cudahy Police Department Tactical Unit will increase substantially. The brave and skilled men of this unit undoubtedly welcome this challenge.”
Lieutenant Chris Kraker -
“While the City sleeps, the personnel of the Late Shift are dedicated to providing a safe environment to work and live within.”
Lieutenant David R. Aamodt -
“I believe the single most important issue we face is the problem of drug abuse. The abuse of heroin and other opiates continues to be a challenge. We investigated three opiate overdose deaths in 2007. The deceased were: a 21-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman. We investigated each of these as a “Len Bias” 1st Degree Reckless Homicide case. In addition, I am aware of at least three other opiate overdoses in which the person survived (thanks to paramedics). We made a significant increase in the amount of drug seizures in 2007. We seized 3,000 grams of marijuana, 14 grams of powder cocaine, 12 grams of crack cocaine and 4 grams of heroin. A total of 72 drug arrests were made. In addition, we identified 6 different gangs present in Cudahy in 2007. They were: Latin Kings, Maniac Latin Disciples, C-14s, Mexican Posse, La Familia and East Side Mafiaso.I am pleased to report that under the reorganization plan for 2008, a Crime Suppression Unit has been established and more officers have been trained in the investigation of drug crimes. I am sure that the Detectives and Officers of the Cudahy PD will rise to the challenges presented to them and make the City of Cudahy a safer place to be.”

How would the Cudahy residents feel about adding a Police Officer on a motorcycle?
Currently, Cudahy doesn’t have any and there are benefits of adding one or more.
Motorcycle police units are very good for traffic control and enforcement. When situations exist, that prevent normal patrol units from reaching a critical location in traffic due to unexpected obstacles, the motorcycle police officer will easily traverse around such obstacles.
Another benefit derived from motorcycle police is image.
There is the cost of the motorcycle, equipment, and any changes to insurance, but there is a gas savings with a motorcycle. It is also a very seasonal unit.
I just wonder if the city seizes a motorcycle in a drug bust, if that motorcycle could be used for this application.
Please contact the Mayor and your district Alderperson and tell them how you feel about adding a Motorcycle Police Officer.

Update - While this came to an email from the Cudahy Police Department, Randy Anderson from
My Two Cents on the Wauwatosa Now let me know it is a hoax. I have emailed the info to the CPD. Thanks Mr. Anderson.
Hoax Info
This is an email I received today from Cudahy Police Sergeant Blunt. I thought I should pass this info on in the blog for safety reasons.
Below is some information obtained from the Milwaukee Police Department. Be careful!!!
Sgt Blunt
Subject: Warning from Milwaukee Police - notice on car - no joke
Beware Everyone !!!
Notice on car. (No Joke) Warning....!!!!
On Friday night, they parked in a public parking area. As they drove away, he noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When he took it off after they got home, it was a receipt for gas. Luckily, his friend had told him not to stop, as it could be someone waiting for them to get out of the car.
Then this email was received:
'WARNING FROM POLICE ...BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKING (NOT A JOKE)'
Heads up everyone! ... Husbands, wives, kids, everyone!!! Please, keep this circulating.... You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car. And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now, the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys.
Your home and your whole identity are now compromised! BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later.
And be thankful that you read this e-mail I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands
Please keep this going PO Derrick Lemmie Community Liaison Officer District Three Police Station 2333 N 49th St Milwaukee, WI 53210 414-935-7238 Djlemm@Milwaukee.gov

Cudahy Police K 9 Unit
By Alderman Joe Mikolajczak
The city of Cudahy is in the process of approving a Police Canine Unit. This has been a proven and beneficial part of many police, sheriff departments as well as the State Patrol.
The Canine Unit trains on a consistent basis to keep the canine/handler team sharp and proficient at their skills. The canine/handler team train virtually on a daily basis and once a month they train with a group of other canine handler's in the area. The unit will provide better quality Law Enforcement and protection for the citizens and Police personnel for Cudahy and our neighboring communities.
The greatest value of a Canine Unit lies in its mere presence on the street. The psychological effect of a Police Canine is tremendous, and their deterrent effect on crime cannot be measured. The Canine is not to replace Police Officers, but to work as a member of a canine/handler team. The Canine's remarkable sense of smell and sound are the main reason police departments utilize canines. These senses allow the canines to perform functions that the human Police Officer just cannot do. Canine/Handler teams can be used in the following situations utilizing these incredible skills.
Some of these uses of a Police Canine Unit include:
TRACKING - A canine can track human beings through a combination of human scent and ground disturbance. Tracking is used mostly in locating and following a suspect's trail from the scene of various crimes, such as burglary, robbery, prowling, etc.
BUILDING SEARCHES - The use of canines to search buildings and homes is perhaps the most utilized of all the abilities they possess. A large warehouse, office building, house or school which has been burglarized, or in which the alarm has been activated, are places where the canine is most functional. Suspects that are hiding from Police possess a strategic advantage over the officers. They can hear and often see officers coming and can ambush. With the use of a canine to locate suspects this is often prevented.
CRIME SCENE/EVIDENCE SEARCHES - The canine can point out objects within a specific area that are foreign to the ground. Canines can be very useful in recovery of physical evidence in brush and tall grass.
OPEN AREA SEARCHES - Cudahy has many densely vegetated areas which can provide suspects with hiding places. Often these suspects are armed and pose a danger to the officers who are required to arrest them. A properly trained canine can be used in these situations to locate the suspect while minimizing the danger to Police Officers. The canine, with his superior olfactory (his nose) and hearing senses, is capable of conducting a more thorough search in less time than even a large number of officers.
APPREHENSION OF FLEEING SUSPECTS - Occasionally the canine may be called upon to apprehend and contain a fleeing suspect. This can prevent the use of greater force to subdue a fleeing or combative suspect. At any point before the apprehension, if the suspect gives up, the canine can be recalled without apprehension.
NARCOTIC SEARCHES - The use of canines to locate narcotics is another valuable ability. Canines can locate hidden narcotics using their superior olfactory skills. These narcotics can be hidden in false vehicle compartments, behind false walls or any other area in which small or large quantities can be concealed. Police Canines are often trained to locate the odor of marijuana, cocaine, cocaine base, hashish and heroin.
PUBLIC RELATIONS - The Canine Unit can be is often made available to public and private groups for demonstrations and discussions about police related business.
I would like to thank Chief Poellot, Sgt. Scheel, Sgt. Blunt, the neighborhood watch and the many others who helped to make the Cudahy K-9 unit move forward to soon become reality. If you would like to help donations are being accepted though the Cudahy Police Department.

I have already contacted the Cudahy Police Department and mycommunitynow.com on what to do about threatening/harassing emails and comments. Make no mistake, I will be having mycommunitynow.com monitor them and I will be compiling a list of possible people who maybe involved. This is a very serious matter and I am giving fair warning about such actions. This is your chance to cease and desist at once.
Debating and disagreeing is one thing, when threatening/harassing emails and comments happens that is another.
This is the letter I sent to the State, City, Police, Media, and my Lawyer.
6-4-08
I would like it noted in and on public record via this email message, that if anyone has any knowledge or partaking in of threatening and/or harassing electronic correspondences, but not limited to, to me and/or my family in mainly, but not limited to, email and/or blog comment(s) entries to those parties or party to have them cease and desist at once.
I would also like to have it noted in and on public record via this email message that if any bodily harm, foul play, and/or any type of retaliation for my support of Wal-Mart and/or the recall of Mayor Ryan of my family, myself, my family’s livelihood and/or my livelihood and/or my property that a full investigation be taken on my behalf.

I have also included a picture of my son’s gravestone for those people that did not believe me that my son died. This is how low people can be.

Day 26 – Still No real response from the Mayor – Outside Council?
So many places in Cudahy and the surrounding areas I see people just driving right through stoplights and signs. These people are not even slowing down. Now it is one thing to not be able to stop because of ice or bad weather, but these people are just not following the law.
It is a very big problem on Grange and Nicholson Ave., yes right next to Park View School. After the crossing guard leaves, it is like the romper room is open for cars. It is unbelievable how people can show that much disregard for the law and safety. Some of those people think because they are turning, they don’t have to stop. That is for both turning left and right. I truly wish the police would setup a sting operation to ticket these people. They are down right dangerous. The city could use the easy revenue. But placing a police car in plain sight, just makes the people obey the law then. However, with a hidden police ticketing the violators, now that will make them think twice.
As far as stoplights, well you only have to spend ten minutes on Packard and Layton to see that.
I am sure it is happening all over. Stop signs have become the new yield. That is yield if you want.
The worst I see is in Bay View.
As traffic turns onto the Lincoln viaduct exiting the South Carferry Drive ramp to South Lincoln Drive, those people hardly ever stop. I even got the city of Milwaukee to put a second stop sign on the left hand side of the lane. That has helped a little bit. That is not even the top violator.
As people exit the 794 south bound onto the port of Milwaukee, those people just drive on by at near freeway speeds. This is farther complicated by all of the trucks picking up salt that don’t even stop. How can you blame them when I see many Milwaukee police cars drive through those same stop signs? By the way, the police don’t have the lights on during these infractions. It seems stop signs are now just a nuisance and not a way to control traffic in a safe manner.
So, what does this all mean? Well to me, it means some laws are just not that important to some people and even to those who are to enforce the laws. Now of course the law, stop signs, and stoplights do matter. Maybe they only matter to most people once they get a ticket, but they matter to me for my safety and the safety of my family. It should matter to you, but does it? How often do you find yourself just driving through a stop sign, maybe because you are late or not paying attention to the road since you are on the phone?
Maybe next time you will think about running the stop sign or light, since a police officer or someone with the authority to tell, the police to make this simple matter a priority, if not to raise money from tickets, but to save lives. Maybe that is all you need to think is that there is a chance you will get caught now that some brought this to light. Please, for the safety of others, STOP! If you want to play dangerously, run with scissors in your hand the wrong way alone. At least then, you will only be in endangering yourself and not others.

I would like to thank Alderman Joe Mikolajczak, Police Sergeant Chris Blunt, and Police Chief Thomas Poellot for all the hard work and time they put into making this K9 Unit a possibility in Cudahy.
I am sure the scumbags do not thank you, but the rest of the citizens of Cudahy and I do. As Alderman Joe Mikolajczak likes to say, "What good are quality developments and a great park system if people are afraid to go to them"? A K9 Unit is a tool in reducing crime in Cudahy to make those who live and work here safe.
I would also like to thank Mayor Ryan McCue for moving past the 2% uncertainty in this program and moving along with the consensus of the rest involved. While he was 98% behind it at his State of the city address, he needed more to convince him. I am sure if you would have asked for the hard numbers in January they would have greatly been supplied. It is great that you felt that all things needed to be looked at and should not be fast tracked. Again thank you for at least making this K9 Unit possible in the year 2008 and not wanting studies or sitting on it longer.
This will be a very good tool for the Cudahy police and those who thought that the K9 Unit was a toy, shame on you. It is just too bad the Unit didn’t get the go ahead in January as it would be possible that the Unit could have been operational for the summer in the time of greatest need.
Again, I would like to thank Alderman Joe Mikolajczak, Police Sergeant Chris Blunt, Police Chief Thomas Poellot, and all the police officers of Cudahy for the hard work on the support of pushing the K9 unit in Cudahy. Nobody can take the credit away from you in this endeavor.
THANK YOU!!!

Wave may look to Oak Creek for training academy The Milwaukee Wave and Continental Properties Co. Inc. may be looking to Oak Creek as the site for a soccer training academy and Wal-Mart Supercenter. The Cudahy Plan Commission rejected the Wave and Continental's proposal May 5 to build a 60,000-square-foot indoor soccer facility at the abandoned 26-acre Iceport site that also would have included a Wal-Mart Supercenter, a hotel and other retail stores. The proposal to build the project in the Cudahy tax incremental financing district was defeated by a vote of 4-3. "We were stunned, but there's plenty of land available in Oak Creek in tax incremental financing districts," said Mike Lafferty, president of the Wave. Lafferty declined to reveal specific sites in Oak Creek.

Day 7 – Monday May 12th 2008 - Still No response from the Mayor, but a new home for Wave & Wal-Mart 5 miles away in the O.C.
Maybe the Wave with Wal-Mart will offend Oak Creek
One starting observation to rid the mind of cobwebs, wake up the thought process, to be coffee for the brain – How is the Iceport the gateway to Cudahy?
Gateway - any passage by or point at which a region may be entered. So no matter where the Wal-Mart is located is that not a gateway?
So the NO crowd will complain no matter where it is!
Layton & Pennsylvania – Gateway to Cudahy from Milwaukee
College & Pennsylvania – Gateway to Cudahy from Milwaukee
Lakeshore Drive – Gateway to Cudahy from South Milwaukee and St. Francis
So no matter where the Wal-Mart is located is that not a gateway?
Sorry if I hurt anyone’s feelings!
On to the apology
-------------
I do have to publicly apologize to Mayor Ryan McCue. Many of you have known that I have been pretty harsh on our Mayor about the importance of “Communication”. I have been very critical of him for a failure of “communication” with the citizens, mainly in written format. I was wrong. I am deeply sorry!
On the Mayor’s website (http://ryanmccue.com/Platform.html), he talks deeply about “Communication.”
It is my fault for one, wanting the “Communication” to be a two-way street and two for it to be in written format. We see “Communication” differently. I actually think “Communication” means to communicate to the people.
Nowhere does he articulate that “Communication” would be either in his platform. How about open communication to the citizens? Is that in there? NOPE!
I guess we didn’t read the fine print. Bait and switch, bait and switch. Where is Ryan McCue the reformer? Would the real Mayor please stand up! You have heard me say that before.
Please accept my deepest apology on this matter. One final thing, Mr. Mayor Ryan McCue, is being silent on the issue to why you voted “NO” and not explaining yourself, open communication? “I will treat residents with the dignity and respect they deserve”?
If McCue thinks that silence, and ignoring the people is RESPECT…Wow, we do have a bigger problem on our hands then Wal-Mart. Instead of standing up, just give your resignation and allow a real Mayor to step forward!
Maybe the Mayor is too good for us. Maybe somewhere in Illinois is better. McCue is right “we can do better” – he was just talking about a Cudahy Mayor.
What is forgotten in the whole mess is the vote was about the usage of the land. Store names should not have played into it at this time.
When Ryan McCue ran for mayor, he campaigned on his frustration of closed-door meetings on his website, and in his attacks. When they were working out the 6-month extension for the Iceport lawyers, and all the meetings of the council and CDA regarding this MOU with Cobalt on Penn and Layton, the meeting notices all talk about going into closed session. What happened to his idea of open government? Maybe I was wrong about this as well!
I will leave all of you with then candidate Ryan McCue’s “Communication” talk in written format. Courtesy of http://ryanmccue.com/Platform.html
Communication
Once elected as you Mayor, I will carefully listen to all the points of view of my constituents and then make to best decision for the majority of the people. My record proves that I am committed to having open communications. As your Milwaukee County Supervisor, nearly every month since June of 2002 I have held “Round Table Discussions” to listen to what is important to my constituents.
Residents: I will return your phone call in a timely fashion. I will treat residents with the dignity and respect they deserve. Once elected as your Mayor, I will host “Meetings with the Mayor” to afford residence an opportunity to learn more about city issues, give suggestions and ask questions.
Businesses: Working with the Cudahy Chamber of Commerce to improve the local economy is a top priority for me. I will re-institute breakfast with Mayor for Cudahy’s businesses.
Common Council: As a former Alderman, I understand the importance of having open communications with the members of the common council.
City Employees: It is important to have open and honest communication with city employees. Once elected as your mayor, I will host brown bag lunches with city employees to discuss city issues.
One Final thought(s)…
(My wife says I truly never have a final thought)
I know one of hang-ups to the Wal-Mart was the fact it would be open 24 hours. To me it makes sense since it is just next door to Patrick Cudahy and other jobs that run around the clock. It works perfect for the workers who would like to shop. As Lisa Nelson from Wal-Mart said, "A 24-hour operation is not for us," she said, "it's for our customers. We're not making a lot of money in the middle of the night."
I guess it is okay to over look who can benefit from shopping at the Wal-Mart, everyone. Where are people who work at odd hours to go?
Demand and Ask for honest answers for the hard questions.
McCue wants to do what he wanted and that was not allow Wal-Mart at all costs, those costs are to the citizens in the loss, he is answerable to us. His decision not to explain himself is unacceptable and unreasonable; maybe there is a way around just to remove him based on mental incapacity or failure to do his job properly. I have to agree with a caller to the Jay Weber show “No public official has the authority to arbitrarily make decisions”!
I have been saying the Mayor needs to clue people in on the game plan for months. Does he have one? What is the BP (battle plan) for the problems in Cudahy?
People, I am not writing to just bash the Mayor. These are important things a leader should be doing. Maybe he has no clue besides the personal things he allows to govern over himself and us. He is supposed to be answerable and accountable to the people, and he is not answering the call from people and I am not talking about his phone use.
I would like to put to rest that McCue did not campaign against Wal-Mart or keeping them out of Cudahy as some have wished, but the use of tax dollars going to Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart didn’t ask for any money.
Here is what the Mayor said, “Wal-Mart: I do not think that the City of Cudahy should provide a $12 million tax subsidy to the world’s biggest retailer. Residents may not even see the tax benefits from the development for 20 years” http://ryanmccue.com/Platform.html
Again, they didn’t and I agree we do not need to give Wal-Mart a tax break!
So, it is bait and switch.
Is McCue an elitist? A Mayor is more then just doing what you want!
It is doing right by the city and its people. McCue has done none of this. He is just doing his own thing and not explaining it, because he doesn't want to or have to. He is getting in the way of progress in the city.
K9 unit, gangs, violence – the K9 is not 100% the answer, but a huge factor. It is another tool the police can use.
Wal-Mart – It is not the silver bullet, but an economic clog in the wheel, a piece of the puzzle. People are not busting down the doors to get in Cudahy, we are much like Cuba in many ways. Just think about it!
This is round one - The people pushing for Wal-Mart ousting seem to be winning these battles. But will they win the war?
It is a win, be it a small one, that the Mayor is silent for Wal-Mart. Maybe there is hope a real Mayor who doesn’t govern by personal thoughts, but sound plans will come forward.
Maybe it will be Joseph Mikolajczak who is tough on crime, Joe Henika who is tough on taxes, or maybe Joe Halser who is pro-business that will throw their hat(s) in to the ring. McCue is none of these.
To use the NO Wal-Mart crowd’s battle cry, anything is better than McCue! No wait – I did change a key word there!!!!
On Second thought – No, I am not sorry on any counts!
A few people said they just about missed my thoughts that I include in the April Top 10 post because they keep up with my daily posts and if it was not that they just wanted to see the order, it would have been missed. I have included them again in this post.
I hope everyone enjoys reading my posts. You may not agree with me, but maybe what I have to say will shed some new light on matters and make you pause. I am not a reporter, but a commentator. I do not get paid, work for the city, or have a secret agenda. I gain nothing personally from doing this blog other than the satisfaction of being able to put “The Way I See It” out for others to read. I do it because I think it needs to be said. I try to be fair and when I see something I don’t agree with, I let it be known.
Many people have said I am hard on the Mayor in his first year and I write blogs that don’t show his job performance in a good light. When I see something that he does great, I will blog on it. Hey, I am not the only one blogging on the Cudahy Now website, Greg Janisch was McCue’s campaign Treasurer and he can blog. Just because I am critical of the Mayor’s job performance, does not make me a person who is attacking Ryan McCue personally nor am I character assassinating him! This is about his job performance period! We all have freedom of speech and a voice; I just choose to use mine.
Here is what a reader, Dave Taylor, said in a comment:
“Randy, there's a lot of people in Cudahy who back you up, even if they are too scared to admit it. We should all be thankful that someone is willing to take a stand for what is right for our city; like you said, "...just want Cudahy to be better", too bad there are egos that get in the way of the good the city could do. There isn't any reason to be shameful of an opinion, that's what makes us human (not robots) and why our country is a great one!
Sometimes you may feel your comments fall of deaf ears, but the truth is that people ARE reading and they ARE listening. We rally behind you and hopefully, you are stronger in your plight for a better Cudahy because of it. You are a voice that matters! You are looking out for the betterment of Cudahy! You are taking a stand, unafraid of whose feathers you ruffle! Those of us who stand behind will continue to support you, even if the “powers that be” wish we weren’t listening!
Keep up the good work…your supporters need your voice!”
Someone has talked to my superiors at mycommunitynow.com to have my work censored or shutdown. The claim was I lie, spread rumors, and have false and inaccurate information. I try to source my work and some comes from people in government that do not like the direction we are headed or people close to a situation that feel some injudicious is being done. I have always believed in correct information and not disinformation. If something is truly wrong let me know and I will correct it, but don’t be all that upset and try and shut me down because you don’t LIKE what I am saying! People, if what I am hearing from those inside is true, some scary things are coming or happening. Hypothetically, it might even be something like a change of salary ordinances for health insurances that is not fair and done evenly. Should it not be changed for all and not leave out anyone? Fair is fair. That is a hypothetical, but watch, it might just come true.
I will not stop until the misinformation, disinformation and no information are brought to light. More and more people are emailing me with things. These are very reliable people and trustworthy people. Together we can all make a difference. I will NEVER sell you out and I have been asked who is telling me things. The wheel of information doesn’t need to stop spinning just because it might ruffle some feathers.

And more..... here they focus on the role of unions in Wal-Mart hating (WARNING GRAPHIC LANGUAGE; GRAPHIC IMAGES, NUDITY):

Time for another installment of Idiot Politician of the Week. I didn’t want to, but I felt I owed it to them somehow.
Welcome to Cudahy where the mating call is, “I’m so drunk.” Yes, the punch line of Milwaukee County is too good for Wal-Mart. Casting the deciding vote was Mayor Ryan McCue. You may remember him from such documentaries as “Screw the Taxpayers” and “Your Milwaukee County Board: Good Work If You Can Get It.” According to McCue, well…, nothing. He’s refused to say why he’s opposed to Wal-Mart. He prefers to remain silent and be thought an idiot rather than open his mouth and remove all doubt.
